BARBARA BACH – AGE 74

Barbara Bach played KGB spy Anya Amasova, also known as Triple X, in the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me. She is both Bond’s love interest and a potential antagonist in typical Bond fashion, and her crisp performance earned her one of the fans’ all-time favorite Bond females.

Bach was primarily known as an in-demand model and the star of many Italian films before playing the secret spy. She appeared in several additional Italian and foreign films, including The Humanoid and The Unseen. She was also considered for Kate Jackson’s replacement role on the television show Charlie’s Angels, but producers thought she was too smart. In 1986, she starred in a short film called To the North of Kathmandu, which would be her final movie credit. Despite the celebrity Bond afforded her, Bach retired from acting soon after the film’s release.
